Mississauga Humane Society is dedicated to doing what’s best for the animals in our care, and sometimes that means not offering them for adoption. Our long-term foster cats and dogs have special needs and your donations can help us meet them.

Animals in Our Care
Get to know the animals your support helps every day
We're thrilled to introduce you to the incredible animals in our care. The descriptions provided below only scratch the surface of their unique personalities, stories, and needs. Together, we can make a difference in their lives.
Charlotte
Charlotte came into care in very poor condition, struggling with untreated coccidia, giardia, and several other health issues. She is currently under the care of a specialist due to severe allergies and is on a specialized diet along with daily medication. Despite her challenges, Charlotte is receiving the care she needs to improve and thrive.
Bowser
Bowser is too cute for words—adorable and incredibly friendly! Despite suffering from a genetic birth defect due to overbreeding, his health is closely monitored, and he’s showered with love in his foster home. Bowser’s sweet nature shines through, and he’s thriving in the care he receives.
Oreo
Oreo is a saucy girl with a bit of unpredictability, but that’s part of her charm. Having been declawed for unknown reasons, she’s had a tough past, but her foster family loves her dearly, and she’s truly flourishing in their care. Oreo’s unique personality makes her a special companion.
Charles
Charles is a FIV+ male who has truly blossomed in foster care. He gets along well with the other cats in the home and has made great strides. While he’s come a long way, Charles still holds onto some of his past experiences and can be a little jumpy if startled or if someone moves too quickly. With patience, he’s learning to trust more every day.
George
George is a sweet, shy boy who’s needed a lot of time, love, and patience to feel comfortable in his foster home. He’s made great progress and now walks around his foster mom’s home, though he’s still a bit wary of human touch. With continued care, George is slowly learning to trust more every day.
Luna
Luna is a sweet girl who adores her feline brothers and loves being kissed and pet by her foster mom. She’s even known to roll onto her side for belly rubs! With a curious nature, she’s especially interested in the kitchen around mealtime—though she doesn’t beg, she’s always happy to be fed. Luna had her first and only litter of kittens in the spring of 2023 and has since been spayed. Estimated to be about 1.5 years old, she would thrive in a quiet home, possibly with a male cat. She’s sleep-trained, so she won’t wake you up in the morning for food, and is currently on veterinary-prescribed food to support her urinary health.
Wynter
Wynter and her kitten were trapped during the winter of 2022, after living in an industrial yard. While her kitten has since found his forever home, Wynter is now in foster care. She’s a sweet but shy girl, still unsure of people. With time, love, and patience, Wynter is sure to flourish in a loving home.
