Happy Homes: Adoption Stories
Every adoption is a story of trust, love, and new beginnings. See how our adoptable pets found their perfect families and built lasting bonds in their forever homes.

Christopher
Christopher, a charming tabby, and Camilla, a lovely calico, are two senior cats who found their forever home after being adopted from different rescues. Christopher joined the family from the MHS two years ago. Since then, they’ve become the best of companions, sharing treats, cozy naps, affectionate pets, and plenty of purrs. Whether lounging in sunny spots or watching the world go by from the window, these two enjoy every moment of their golden years together.

Nala’s Adoption Story
Nala’s story is one of survival, love, and finding a home where she truly belongs. When she first came to us, she was so scared and fragile, you could hardly imagine the strength she had inside. After losing her kittens, Nala spent her days hiding, unsure of the world around her. But little by little, she began to trust us. Now, she’s a quiet, sweet cat who shows her love in the most unexpected ways—whether it’s her silent presence or the way she curls up next to us when she feels safe. Nala has been through so much, but she’s finally found her forever home. Curious about her journey? Click to read the full story of how Nala found peace and love again.

Taz’s Adoption Story
Taz, our playful Siamese, came into our lives when we decided to start fostering, and it didn’t take long for him to make himself right at home. He’s always up for fun, whether he’s chasing toy springs, doing flips, or jumping around the house. Taz also loves his daily outdoor walks (with a harness, of course), and he’s super friendly with everyone he meets—including new people and dogs! Adopting him has been one of the best decisions we’ve made, and we couldn’t be happier with our goofy, lovable boy.

Marley’s Adoption Story
Marley came into my life on August 29, 2024, from his MHS foster home, and he’s been a ball of energy ever since! He loves exploring every corner of the house and is especially fond of his bell toys—though he’s already managed to lose at least five of them! He’s also the sweetest cat, always greeting me at the door and curling up beside me when I sleep. Marley has brought so much happiness into my life, and I’m so grateful to have him as part of our family. He’s truly found his forever home with me.

Yule’s Adoption Story
Yule came to us as a foster kitty, and it didn’t take long to realize he was meant to stay. At 20 pounds of pure love, he’s gentle, cuddly, and a total chatterbox. He’s never shy and loves being the center of attention—especially at dinner parties! We can’t imagine life without him.

Nico’s Adoption Story
Nico, a rescue from Texas, overcame a tough past after being abandoned and suffering from an injury that led to the loss of his leg and blindness in one eye. When he first arrived, he was fearful and spent his days hiding, but with patience and the support of his new siblings, Gemma and Loki, he quickly began to trust again. Now, Nico is a playful, loving cat who loves chasing his toys, lounging in comfy beds, and soaking up affection. His new family is thrilled to give him the loving, spoiled life he deserves.

John & Stardust’s Adoption Story
We adopted John, a beautiful grey tabby, from MHS to be a companion for Stardust (aka Hope), one of the kittens from Faith and Wyatt’s litter. When we first brought him home, PJ was shy and scared, often keeping his distance and only socializing with Stardust. Even after we moved to BC, PJ remained introverted, never wanting to be petted. But this fall, after a short holiday, something changed. PJ completely came out of his shell and is now the most snuggly, social cat! He even sits with guests when they visit. It’s a perfect reminder that with time, patience, and love, even the shyest cats can bloom. If you're considering adopting a shy cat, just know that love conquers all!

Barry’s Adoption Story
I was nervous about adopting a cat, but as soon as Barry came into my life, I knew he was meant to stay. Despite his rough start, he’s become incredibly playful, cuddly, and full of personality! He follows me everywhere, is mischievous, chatty, and smart. I love coming home to him waiting at the door, and I’m so happy to give him the loving home he deserves. Adopting Barry was the best decision I’ve ever made—he’s truly a special cat, and I’m so grateful to the Mississauga Humane Society for bringing him into my life!

Maisy’s Adoption Story
The moment Maisy (formerly Briar Rose) came into our home, she filled our hearts with love and joy. Her playful, quirky, and affectionate personality has brought so much happiness and completeness to our family. It’s amazing how one little furry friend can bring so much light and warmth into our lives.

Kylo’s Adoption Story
Meet Kylo, our adventurous little buddy! When we first adopted him, Kylo was sweet and shy, but it didn’t take long for his big personality to shine through. Now, he keeps us on our toes with his wild zoomies, playful antics, and endless curiosity. As a skilled mouser and expert flycatcher, he takes his job as the neighborhood night watch seriously, keeping our home pest-free. Kylo’s lively nature fills our days with laughter, reminding us that life is always more fun with a little adventure.

Rose’s Adoption Story
In October 2023, MHS volunteers rescued Rose, a pregnant momma cat, who gave birth just days later at the vet. Once her kittens were raised, Rose found her forever home with a family who adores her.
"Rose is a perfect purr machine—cuddly, playful, and always at ease. She loves drinking water from a glass and running around at dawn. Her gentle nature and warm personality make her the perfect addition to our family. We love her dearly and she fills our lives with joy."

Peaches & Puffin’s Adoptive Stories
Peaches and Puffin adopted us in January 2024, just after we lost our 13-year-old cat, Cooper. They traveled from a trailer park in Texas to Mississauga, a story that resonated with us as we love road trips and the vast open spaces of the American West. The Mississauga Humane Society took great care of these bonded cats until they found their forever home with us. Renamed Bear and Texas, they’ve had an adventurous year—traveling to Arizona, glamping at the Grand Canyon, and spending time in Utah before heading to our summer cottage in Northern Saskatchewan. Road warriors, champion nappers, and playful companions, they’ve truly made our house a home.

Gemma’s Adoption Story
Gemma came into my life just a week after losing my childhood dog. I wasn’t planning to adopt so soon, but when I met her at a Mississauga Humane Society event while working at Ren’s Pets, I instantly fell in love with her. She was the last cat left, and I knew I had to bring her home.
Gemma is full of energy and personality, racing around the apartment, demanding treats, and chatting away with me. Her sassy, smart nature inspired her name after Gemma Teller-Morrow from Sons of Anarchy. She even modeled for the cover of the Mississauga Humane Society 2023 calendar!
I never expected her to be exactly what I needed, but I’m so grateful I met my sweet girl that day.

Fireban & Fathom’s Adoption Story
Meet Fireban and Fathom, two beautiful soul brothers who have completely transformed our family. Through their love and trust, we've learned patience and experienced a depth of love we never thought possible. These sweet, loving cats are more than just pets—they’re family. From snuggling to playing, we treat them just like one of us. Our hearts are full, and we’re beyond grateful to have given them their forever home.

Misty and Milo’s Adoption Story
After the loss of my beloved cat, I never thought I'd be ready for another pet. But fostering Misty and Milo through MHS changed everything. These timid, playful kitties healed my broken heart with their antics and love. Milo, the adventurous one, loves climbing to unexpected places, while Misty is the perfect hunter. After a year, I became a #FosterFail and moved to Edmonton with them. They’ve brought so much joy into my life and helped me honor my first fur baby. Click to read how they saved my heart and gave me a second chance at love.
